家属沟通 Talking with Families
Talk with a patient’s family in Mandarin: find out who is who, give updates within privacy rules, handle visiting and food, and support them through hard news.

- Give a simple update, once the patient has agreed.
- Explain visiting, staying overnight and food from home.
- Respond with care when a family asks you not to tell the patient.
- Know which questions you answer and which go to the doctor.

- 请问您是病人的什么人？Qǐng wèn nín shì bìng rén de shén me rén?May I ask how you’re related to the patient?
- 病人同意以后，我才能告诉您。Bìng rén tóng yì yǐ hòu, wǒ cái néng gào su nín.I can tell you once the patient agrees.
- 他今天精神好一点了。Tā jīn tiān jīng shen hǎo yì diǎn le.He has a bit more energy today.
- 医生下午查房，我帮您问问。Yī shēng xià wǔ chá fáng, wǒ bāng nín wèn wen.The doctor does rounds this afternoon. I’ll ask for you.
- 晚上可以留一个人陪床。Wǎn shang kě yǐ liú yí ge rén péi chuáng.One person can stay the night.
- 家里带的吃的，请先给我们看一下，我们查一下他能不能吃。Jiā lǐ dài de chī de, qǐng xiān gěi wǒ men kàn yí xià, wǒ men chá yí xià tā néng bu néng chī.If you bring food from home, please show us first, and we’ll check whether he can have it.
- 我明白您是想保护他。Wǒ míng bai nín shì xiǎng bǎo hù tā.I understand you want to protect him.
- 这个要请医生跟您详细说。Zhè ge yào qǐng yī shēng gēn nín xiáng xì shuō.The doctor should explain that to you in detail.
- 您辛苦了。您也要注意休息。Nín xīn kǔ le. Nín yě yào zhù yì xiū xi.Thank you for all you’re doing. Make sure you rest too.
- 有什么问题随时问我们。Yǒu shén me wèn tí suí shí wèn wǒ men.Ask us anything, any time.
