- Name the organs of the abdomen, in the patient’s words and the report’s.
- Find exactly where it hurts, region by region.
- Ask the questions that matter: food, nausea, urine, jaundice.
- Warn before you press, and ask about tenderness as you scan.
- Answer “what did you see?” kindly, without giving a result.

- 今天检查肝、胆、胰、脾、肾，大概二十分钟。Jīn tiān jiǎn chá gān, dǎn, yí, pí, shèn, dà gài èr shí fēn zhōng.Today: liver, gallbladder, pancreas, spleen and kidneys. About twenty minutes.
- 用一个手指指一下最疼的地方。Yòng yí ge shǒu zhǐ zhǐ yí xià zuì téng de dì fang.Point with one finger to where it hurts most.
- 吃了油腻的东西会疼吗？Chī le yóu nì de dōng xi huì téng ma?Does it hurt after fatty food?
- 有没有恶心、呕吐？Yǒu méi yǒu ě xin, ǒu tù?Any nausea or vomiting?
- 皮肤或者眼睛发黄吗？Pí fū huò zhě yǎn jing fā huáng ma?Have your skin or eyes turned yellow?
- 我按一下，疼的话告诉我。Wǒ àn yí xià, téng de huà gào su wǒ.I’m going to press. Tell me if it hurts.
- 肠子里有气，我换个角度看。Cháng zi lǐ yǒu qì, wǒ huàn ge jiǎo dù kàn.There’s gas in the bowel. I’ll try another angle.
- 图像都会给医生看，报告由医生来写。Tú xiàng dōu huì gěi yī shēng kàn, bào gào yóu yī shēng lái xiě.All the images go to the doctor, and the doctor writes the report.
- 检查做完了，我帮您把耦合剂擦掉。Jiǎn chá zuò wán le, wǒ bāng nín bǎ ǒu hé jì cā diào.The scan is done. I’ll help you wipe off the gel.
- 您今天还有别的要空腹的检查吗？没有的话，现在可以吃东西了。Nín jīn tiān hái yǒu bié de yào kōng fù de jiǎn chá ma? Méi yǒu de huà, xiàn zài kě yǐ chī dōng xi le.Do you have any other fasting tests today? If not, you can eat now.
