Module 6 of 12 · 肿瘤科中文 Cancer Care
化疗 Chemotherapy and the Infusion Day
Guide a patient through a chemo day in Mandarin: check-in and labs, the port, premedicines, reactions, cycles and safety at home.
By the end of this module you can…
- Check the patient in with two identifiers, and explain labs first, the weight and why the drugs are mixed only after the check.
- Explain the port, a PICC or an IV, and the premedicines, and say honestly how long the day takes.
- Say which cycle it is and how often the cycles come, with 两 and 第二 in the right places.
- Teach the call bell for reaction signs and for pain or swelling at the site, and say calmly what you are doing when they appear.
- Teach safety at home for the first days after chemo (usually 48 hours), birth control, chemo pills and the take-home pump, and answer fears without promises.
